Mandy is our customer who contacted Image&Style@166 on a Friday afternoon to say she wanted to “re-look” at her wardrobe. Without hesitation I agreed to help……
I asked Mandy how she felt about her overall image, she said “I really try to care about my image but I have no clue if what I am wearing actually suits me”. Mandy agreed to have a telephone interview to book her appointment with myself.
Throughout the interview I discovered that Mandy was a brand new customer of ours, she was 47 and a busy social worker, she rarely goes shopping for herself and decided due to a first holiday with her partner without any children, she wanted to take a step back and refresh her overall image. Mandy also said she was happy to have before and after photos. At the end of the interview she booked a full day service including both colour and style consultation and personal shopping
Mandy felt more comfortable on a one-to-one and for me to come to her and complete her services, I met Mandy at her home and she welcomed me in, as most women on a first meeting, Mandy was dressed all in black, I introduced myself and asked if I could take her before photo. Mandy told me that was fine to do. (Mandy also gave permission for the blog).
We continued on with the consultations and discussed the importance of colour and how it can really enhance your natural beauty and make you look more radiant and healthy. We discovered through Mandy’s natural features that she was best wearing “bright/light” colours. Mandy also learned that the undertones of her skin were cool and therefore she was in the season of summer. I held fabrics to Mandy skin to demonstrate how those colours can really compliment her and how others do not. Mandy said she was “speechless” and “never would have picked those colours”. I spoke to Mandy about the colours she uses on her make-up, I gave her a demonstration of colours, Mandy called me 2 days later to say she had bought all new make-up, thankful for my advice.
We carried on to speak about her body shape and explaining that size is something that is obsolete in my profession, we only concentrate on proportions when it comes to dressing everyone’s body. I asked if Mandy knew her body shape, she responded with “I think I am an apple” with a confused look on her face, I asked why she thought that, she just shrugged.
I explained that I would measure her shoulders, bust, waist and hips to determine her proportions, she assured me it was fine to do this. When I calculated the proportions of Mandy’s body, she was not an apple like she originally thought, she was an inverted triangle, this meant that there a clear definition between her shoulders and her hips. I explained to Mandy that I would help create more curves in her body with her correct colours and she would feel amazing on her cruise.
We booked a day to go shopping and I would pick her up and drop her off, Mandy stated she wanted something that was “age-appropriate” but wanted to “feel sexy”. When we went shopping I had already contacted shops to make sure the correct dress sizes were available in the style to suit Mandy silhouette and also her budget.
When I picked outfits for Mandy I would always make sure she tried on an outfit before saying “no”, but I did say that if Mandy ever felt uncomfortable after trying on my choices that the ultimate decision is hers of course. Thankfully throughout the whole shopping trip, Mandy agreed with every decision I made on the day due to the research I had done and what she was looking for.
Mandy was so thankful for my service on behalf of Image&Style@166, she said “I have never felt more excited about myself, Mark has given me all the tools to do this myself in future, the attention to detail in his service was excellent and the experience has changed my view on shopping and more importantly I feel sexy and I do not have to try to look 20 to feel that way. I will speaking to all my friends, family and work colleagues about Image&Style@166, Thank you so much, Mandy xxx”
